Herstory

Our Story, Purpose,and Legacy.

From a quiet whisper from God at Hope City Church to a sisterhood of 60+ women veterans across the Greater Savannah Area.

Who We Are

A sisterhood born from a divine calling.

The Beauties in Boots Women's Veteran Club was founded in 2023 by Founding President Tresa Hester and Founding Vice-President Ebony Elim during their time at Hope City Church in Savannah, Georgia. Born from a divine calling, the organization has grown into a powerful sisterhood dedicated to honoring, uplifting, and uniting women who have served in the armed forces.

What began as a quiet whisper from God became a bold mission to celebrate the strength, identity, and dignity of every woman veteran — ensuring she feels seen, heard, valued, and supported.

Our Founding Story

"I feel a veteran ministry in the atmosphere."

Before Beauties in Boots Women's Veteran Club had a name or a vision, Founding President Tresa found herself praying deeply about returning to ministry. One Sunday, Pastor Tameka of Hope City declared, "I feel a veteran ministry in the atmosphere." In that moment, Founding President Tresa knew God was speaking directly to her.

After service, she approached Pastor Tameka and expressed her desire to start a veteran's ministry. She was encouraged to begin Growth Track, which happened to start that very day. Taking a leap of faith, she informed her daughter of her plans and entered the class.

As soon as she sat down, she found herself next to a woman she had never met — Founding Vice-President Ebony. God whispered, "That's the one." Though hesitant at first, the message came again: "That's the one who will help you lead the group." Founding President Tresa turned to Founding Vice-President Ebony, shared her assignment, and Founding Vice-President Ebony immediately accepted. This divine alignment marked the birth of what would become Beauties in Boots Women's Veteran Club.

Sisterhood gathering
Seeds of Sisterhood

From Single and Soaring to a circle of eight.

Before this moment of calling, Founding President Tresa had been part of the small group Single and Soaring — a community of women who survived divorce and were on their healing journey. Several of the members were veterans, and their conversations often circled back to military life. These shared stories planted the early seeds of a future sisterhood.

The ministry's first name was Family Forces, intended to support entire military families and assist veterans in accessing and maximizing their benefits. However, at the very first meeting, only women attended:

  • Founding President Tresa Hester
  • Founding Vice-President Ebony Elim
  • Beauty Natacha Rock
  • Beauty Anne Henry
  • Beauty Shaleah Lewis
  • Beauty Tati Brown
  • Beauty Brooklyn Williams-Paige
  • Beauty Tawanna Reynolds

That first gathering was filled with shared stories, emotional release, and deep connection. Though their military experiences were different, their hearts quickly recognized each other and inadvertently created a safe place where they could be themselves — without even planning it.

Becoming Beauties in Boots

Combat boots paired with high heels — sealed with a kiss.

Remembering a Facebook group called "Beauties in Boots," Founding President Tresa knew instantly that this name captured the heart of the women in the room. The group embraced it.

Beauty Tawanna suggested creating shirts and worked through the night designing their first logo. With the input of all the Beauties, the first logo was created: combat boots paired with high heels, sealed with a kiss, and the Beauties in Boots name in camouflage — a perfect blend of strength and grace.

Service at the Heart

A moment that bonded them forever.

We decided we would be more than just a group who laughed and had fun — we wanted to give back to our community. Our first act of service was a feminine hygiene drive benefiting young women at Park Place. Together with Single and Soaring, we gathered over 550 feminine products to fight against period poverty in the community and help the young ladies who reside in those communities.

The Beauties bond was solidified deeper on June 21, 2024, at 5:32 p.m., when their beloved sister Beauty Natacha Rock — their Fallen Beauty — took her final breath. Her passing became a cornerstone of the organization's identity, reminding every member of the importance of unity, compassion, and doing life together.
